Carboxytherapy

It consists of the administration of medical-grade carbon dioxide (CO2) via intradermal or subcutaneous microinjections₂delivered by a specific device.

Carbon dioxide is a non-toxic, natural gas normally produced during respiration which, when injected in a controlled manner, induces vasodilation and reactivates the microcirculation. It also exerts a lipolytic effect (reducing localized fat deposits) and a toning effect on the walls of lymphatic vessels, thereby improving tissue trophism and metabolism.

Thanks to the Bohr effect, oxygen detaches more easily from hemoglobin, resulting in the optimization of cellular biochemical processes and the indirect stimulation of fibroblasts. This effect promotes the production of collagen and elastin in the treated tissues, leading to clear results in skin hydration, brightness, and firmness.

During the administration of the medical gas, a visible “swelling” of the skin appears, indicating the remarkable diffusion capacity of CO₂. This is followed by slight redness accompanied by a sensation of local warmth, reflecting the gas’s vascular activity.

Each session lasts approximately 30–45 minutes and is performed weekly, for a total cycle of about 10 sessions, depending on the indication. A monthly maintenance session is usually required to preserve the results. Carboxytherapy can be used alone or in combination with other treatments.

Small bruises may appear at the injection sites, which typically resolve within 5 to 7 days. The redness and swelling that occur during the treatment disappear spontaneously within a few minutes after the session is completed.

The burning sensation is temporary, and the patient typically experiences a feeling of well‑being and lightness in the legs (when treated) for several days. Normal activities can be resumed immediately after the session.
