CO2 Laser

Laser technology has revolutionized therapeutic strategies for addressing various skin lesions, achieving results that are often superior or, in some cases, irreplaceable compared to traditional methods.

The CO₂ laser (carbon dioxide laser) is used in place of the traditional scalpel in many types of procedures. It emits a light invisible to the human eye, corresponding to the infrared spectrum, which is absorbed exclusively by the water contained within the cells of the lesions being treated, causing their vaporization.

It is a highly precise technique, with little to no bleeding and improved wound healing.

After a thorough diagnostic evaluation by the dermatologist, the skin lesions that can be treated with the CO₂ laser include: 

• angiomas 
• seborrheic keratoses 
• fibromas 
• viral warts 
• dermal nevi
• sebaceous hyperplasia and other lesions.

• If the lesions are small and few in number, no anesthesia is required, as the treatment is well tolerated and causes only mild discomfort or a slight burning sensation. If, however, the lesions to be treated are medium or large in size, anesthesia may be necessary, either in the form of a topical cream or local infiltration.

  The removal is performed without touching the surrounding tissues and without making any incisions.

It is essential to avoid direct sun exposure and UVA lamps for 30 days after the treatment, in order to prevent overstimulation of melanin and the possible formation of post‑treatment pigmentation spots. The use of a sunscreen with a protection factor higher than 30 is therefore recommended.

After the treatment, the skin becomes more sensitive and red, symptoms that disappear spontaneously within a few hours.

A daily dressing is applied to the treated area, leading to complete healing within 5–7 days. Returning to normal activities is immediate, and makeup can be applied right after the treatment.
