Project Description
It is a medical‑aesthetic treatment that stimulates, through the application of a chemical substance on the skin, an accelerated exfoliation and the consequent renewal of the skin, achieving a smoothing effect and facial rejuvenation. The skin appears brighter, smoother, and more elastic. Dark spots and superficial irregularities progressively improve.
The effects induced by chemical peels are:
- Elimination of damaged cells
- Regeneration of new cellular tissue
- Stimulation of new collagen and elastin production
- Improvement of skin aging (dull skin, reduced elasticity, fine wrinkles) of the face, neck, and décolleté
- Correction of melasma and skin spots
- To even out the skin tone
- Active acne and acne scars
- Seborrhea
- Stretch marks
- A peeling can act either at the level of the very superficial dermis or at a deeper level, but it is important to remember that, rather than performing a deep peel—with its possible risks and undesirable effects—it is advisable to carry out multiple sessions of a superficial or medium‑depth peel. Based on an appropriate evaluation of the skin type and of the imperfection or condition we aim to treat, the most suitable peeling for each patient is determined. The results will depend on the choice of the chemical agent and on the preparation of the skin prior to the procedure.
The chemical substances used are:
- Retinoic acid
- Salicylic acid
- Trichloroacetic acid (TCA)
- Glycolic acid
- Pyruvic acid
- Mandelic acid
- Lactic acid
- Biorevitalizing cocktails (hexapeptides, DMAE)
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
- Active viral infections
- Allergy and/or hypersensitivity to any component of the peel
- Recent surgical procedures (at least within the last 6 months) such as blepharoplasty, eyelid lifting, etc.
- Immunosuppressive diseases
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?
Healing time varies depending on the type of chemical substance used and the depth at which it acts. A superficial chemical peel typically causes mild redness lasting a few hours and slight skin flaking that may persist for up to 3 days.
It is important after a chemical peel to avoid sun exposure or UVA–UVB lamps for at least 30 days. The use of a product containing protective sunscreens and filters is recommended.
